This is the last race in which a Porsche 917 won in the World Championship of Makes

Pedro Rodriguez and Richard Attwood in command of 917 #16 of Wyer-Gulf took Pole Position in classification sessions and then the race.

Second place, and two laps behind the winners, was Dutchman Toine Hezemans and Italian Nino Vaccarella with an Alfa Romeo T33/3 of team Autodelta SpA, and the third place was for the German Stommelen and the Italian Nanni Galli with another T33/3 of the same team.

The Ferrari 512M of the Swiss Müller/Herzog. They abandoned due to an accident in lap 17.

Heading this platoon it can be seen again the Ferrari 512M #22 of Müller/Herzog. With this specific car, the Mexican Pedro Rodríguez would be killed a few days later. Closely followed by the 917s of Marko/Larrousse and Siffert/Bell.

Siffert/Bell abandoned the race because of a problem in the clutch, whereas Marko/Larrousse were delayed at first by a puncture, and finally abandoned due to an accident.

 SPORTS SYNTHESIS 

Ronnie Peterson/Joachim Bonnier were the winners, driving a Lola T212. The Lola suited the track perfectly, and the triumph came thaks to the amazing driving abilities of swede Peterson, and the brake faliure sufferd by Derek Bell/Gijs Van Lennep Porsche 917K #24.
